Twenty One Pilots @ Amway Arena in Orlando, FL

If there is anything that Tyler Joseph and Josh Dunn can’t do it’s disappoint a crowd of thousands.  The Ohio natives behind Twenty One Pilots have risen to huge success in the past year – and it’s only getting better.  Playing to nearly 18,000 fans in Orlando, Twenty One Pilots opened their set with “Heavydirtysoul” and followed the night with music from their newest album “Blurryface” as well as fan-favorites from their previous record, “Vessel” such as “Car Radio,” “Holding onto  You,” and my personal favorite “Ode to Sleep.”

After “Ode to Sleep,” they transitioned into a medley of their much older songs from “Regional at Best” and the self-titled “Twenty One Pilots.”  To me, this was definitely one of the bigger highlights of the entire show.  I’ve been listening to Twenty One Pilots since before they signed with their current label, Fueled by Ramen, so hearing old songs like “Kitchen Sink,” “Forest,” and “Addict with a Pen” was a very emotional and nostalgic trip for fans like me who’ve followed Twenty One Pilots’ success since the beginning.  I never thought I would ever hear those songs live and it was honestly a very surreal, and awesome experience! Not to mention, this medley of old songs was performed on a separate stage that was pretty much a giant LED screen in the back of the GA pit.

As the night progressed, Tyler and Josh brought Chef’Special and Mutemath back onto the stage to join them in an entertaining showcase of covers including Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself” and Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On.”

It wouldn’t be a complete Twenty One Pilots show without some crazy crowd interactions and stage antics, like Tyler getting on a hamster ball and into the fan-filled pit during “Guns For Hands” or the well-anticipated encore with “Trees” as Tyler and Josh brought two bass drums onto the crowd and confetti cannons from every angle possible at the end.  It wasn’t just a concert, they put on an amazing show.
