Chosen Jacobs is on the path to become one of the greatest actors of his generation, establishing his name at the forefront of horror amongst other genres. Having starred in the hit Stephen King movie It, he is now taking on TV as he stars as Wendell Deaver in Castle Rock. The show is based off various Stephen King novels and explores horror in an innovative way. Not only does Jacobs love to act but also he is an incredible musician, with a song titled “Losers” out now and new music to come in the future. Jacobs shares his upcoming projects in our Summer 2018 issue.

Was there a person/moment that really inspired you to pursue acting?
The Pursuit of Happiness was the first movie to ever make me cry. I’ve been infatuated with the craft of acting ever since the day I saw that movie. It was crazy to me that a movie that I paid $9.99 for could affect me so deeply. It was a truly magical moment in my life!

What was it like to be on such a high profile movie like It?
The love that the cast received from the Stephen King family was inconceivable. Words can’t describe that feeling. I am eternally grateful to everyone who supported us throughout our journey. It’s truly a blessing!

Did you expect the enormous success that came with the release of It?
No one could’ve anticipated the type of success the film had. As an actor, my job is to portray my character to the best of my ability. Whether a film is enormously successful or not, my job is to do my very best to bring the character to life.

Tell us about Castle Rock.
I’ll tell you guys as much as I can about this cool project!  Castle Rock is the brainchild of both the legendary Stephen King and J.J. Abrams. In my opinion, it’s a thriller based off of the incredible stories of Stephen King’s world. It premieres on July 25th on Hulu. You have to tune in, I’m so excited about this project!

You play “Wendell Deaver” in the series. Tell us about your character and the role he plays in the series.
I can’t say too much but Wendell Deaver is the son of Henry Deaver that is played by André Holland.  This is a totally different character all together, and I’m excited for you to meet him!

Did you find any parallels between Wendell in Castle Rock and your character “Mike Hanlon” in It? In what ways are they similar and different?
I really can’t go into detail about Wendell, but I can tell you that they are two totally different characters. All of the main characters in Castle Rock are original characters except for Adam Pangborn.

You previously worked with Bill Skarsgård in It before Castle Rock. What was it like to work with him again on Castle Rock?
It was so funny the first day I saw him on set. It was like seeing an old friend again. He’s an phenomenal actor and it’s always an honor to work with people that help you grow as an actor as well. I hope to work with him again in the near future.

Are you planning on coming out with any more music? If so, what can we expect from you?
Of course! You guys will be receiving new music very soon. These last couple of months, I have been in the studio just developing my style and sound. It’s been a blast! I can’t wait to reveal what I’ve been working on this year.

What artists inspire you?
Growing up, I was exposed to so many genres of art. So many artists have inspired me in different ways. Artists like Hans Zimmer to James Brown to Fred Astaire. Inspiration is everywhere if you look for it! But right now, my favorite artist is Bruno Mars.

If you had to describe yourself in three words, what would they be?
If I had to describe myself with three words I would use the words creative, loving, and adventurous.

What has been your favorite project that you’ve worked on?
Every project is like a child. Even though I’ve never had a child, I’m sure you understand you what I mean. I love each project equally in different ways. Maybe in the future I will look back and discuss in more depth what I loved about all of my projects. It would be interesting to me to hear what I would have to say ten years from now.

If you could star in any show, which one would it be?
Oh my, that’s a hard question to answer. My favorite show ever is Breaking Bad. If I could rewind time, I would’ve definitely played a character in that show. I binged watched that show twice. The first time by myself, and then I got my mom hooked on it and she binged watched it.

If you could make a movie what would it be about?
I’ve put a lot of thought into this question. But my answer still remains the same. I would love to make a Muhammad Ali film. He was, is, and will forever be an iconic figure. He’s not just an iconic American figure but an iconic human figure. He shifted and changed culture in a time where people were stuck in their way of life. It would be the ultimate honor to play Mr. Ali!

How do you like to have fun?
I have fun just like any other kid. I love to play basketball, go to the movies, binge on Hulu shows, hang out with friends, and eat. Especially the eating part! I live a pretty balanced life. I always find time to just chill when I need to.

Lastly, give a shoutout to an actor that inspires you!
This man needs no introduction. He is an actor of many faces and talents. His name is Leonardo DiCaprio. Leonardo’s role in The Great Gatsby changed my life. I love the persona and elegance of Gatsby. As the film climaxes, the audience realizes that Gatsby’s elegance was just a mask to hide his insecurities something that we all can relate to. He portrayed that character perfectly!
