Diane Licht always had a passion for shoes. Learn about how the founder of Cambiami is out to revolutionize the footwear industry.

If you could describe Cambiami using only two words, what would the words be?
Innovative and customizable

Did you envision for Cambiami to be how it is today?
Introducing a new concept we’ve been surprised by how passionate people feel about our sandals and how often our customers come back to pick new colors. The business has exceeded our expectations and growing faster than we could have imagined.

How would you describe Cambiami to a person who has never heard of the brand before?
Cambiami is revolutionizing the footwear industry by allowing women to instantly personalize their sandal with dozens of colorful, comfortable and fashion-forward interchangeable straps. A single Cambiami sandal can be worn from day to night, with over 100 sandal combinations. Our patented design allows you to simply swap the straps and step into an entirely new look quickly and easily.

Cambiami is a very unique name, what is the significance of the name?
Cambiami means, “change me” in Italian. Our business is all about change and giving women the ability to change the way they purchase sandals. I studied footwear design at the renowned footwear school, Ars Sutoria in Milan, Italy.

Your sandals are very different from other brands – truly one of a kind — how did you come up with the idea?
I have always had a passion for shoes and traveling. The inspiration for Cambiami came during a vacation in Greece, where I brought 10 pairs of a nearly identical sandal for a 12-day trip. I had a vision of finding a better way for women to quickly and affordably change their look without compromising their style or running out of space in their suitcase.

To me, bravery means doing something in the face of adversity even if it scares you.

Tell me about your personal background. What did you do before Cambiami? How have your past experiences influenced Cambiami?
Before starting Cambiami, I was working at NBC Universal as a television publicist for nearly 10 year. Moving from the entertainment industry to fashion I had to learn about design, business models, product development and manufacturing in the footwear industry. Having no experience in the footwear industry, I enrolled in a footwear design and prototype course at ARS Sutoria. After learning the technical side of footwear design I developed Cambiami to provide women with a fashionable, comfortable, and affordable customizable sandals.

Because I began with a vision and no preconceived notions about the industry, our company is driven by innovation and personalization. We are intent on breaking away from traditional buying patterns and giving women the freedom and choice.

How were you able to set Cambiami apart from other brand names?
Cambiami allows women to instantly personalize their sandal with dozens of colorful, comfortable and fashion-forward interchangeable straps. Our patented design allows you to simply swap the straps and step into an entirely new look quickly and easily.

Do you have any passions outside of work?
I’m passionate about traveling and helping other women achieve their dreams. Despite being a small business with limited resources we have made it our mission to donate to causes that improve the lives of women around the world.

Where do you see Cambiami in the next 10 years?
I see Cambiami as a thriving business expanding into multiple categories.

Who, where, or what do you find inspiration from?
I find most of my inspiration from travel. It could be anything from the color of a beautiful sunset to being on safari in Africa.

What does the term “bravery” mean to you?
To me, bravery means doing something in the face of adversity even if it scares you.
