Ashley Liao is a fifteen year old actress. She stars in Netflix’s Fuller House as Lola, Fresh off the Boat as Audrey, and The Kicks as Parker. She can also be seen in the upcoming short Lemonade Mafia as Stank. In addition to being a performer, she loves to watch Broadway shows, finds time to volunteer, and is an animal lover. Some charities that Liao has spoken about and supported include Save A Child’s Heart, Ronald McDonald House, Alex’s Lemonade Stand and P.S. Arts. Meet this budding actress!
How has your life changed with certain projects?
Oh! My life has changed a ton since Fuller House came out. It has for sure made my life more exciting and Full! I think the biggest way my life has changed is when I am out in public. Sometimes I forget that I can be recognized and I will be walking around and someone stop and asks if I am Lola and for a good second I am like “what? Ohhhh!” It is definitely taken some getting used to.
What do you have on your bucket list for before you turn 18?
Funny enough, I have my bucket list written out directly in front of me. Before I turn 18, I hope to meet Tori Kelly, visit Europe, and go to Disneyland as often as I can!
When you’re not acting, what do you like to do you in your free time?
When I am not acting, I love playing the guitar or ukulele. I recently picked up the ukulele over winter break and taught myself how to play, I have been addicted to playing ever since. As my Instagram and Snapchat followers know, I LOVE my dogs. So I spend quite a lot of time playing with them and teaching them new tricks!
What can fans expect from your character, Lola, in Fuller House season 2? How about season 3?
Well, in season 2, we have a lot of holiday episodes. You can definitely expect to see a Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years episode! And of course, we get to see more of how Jackson and Lola’s relationship is going.
I do not think I even know what to expect from season 3! I do know though that it will be an 18 episode season, which is 5 episodes longer than our last 2 seasons. In season 3, I hope we get to know Lola more outside of the Fullers!
What’s a dream project you’d like to work on?
A dream show I would love to work on is Grey’s Anatomy. I have been a huge fan ever since all 13 seasons (yes, I watched all 13…twice!) came out on Netflix. Meeting Ellen Pompeo is one of my dreams!
What have your on screen roles taught you?
I think Lola has taught me the most out of all my roles. She is Jackson’s girlfriend so it is like getting to have experience with relationships before I, myself, have had my first. It’s actually really cool!
What or who inspired you to act?
Ever since I was a kid, I would do all this research on behind the scenes of television shows and movies. It fascinated me how the people I was watching were real people. I think since then, I have been drawn to the industry and doing musical theatre helped me to realize that being a part of something bigger than yourself comes with a feeling that is indescribable.
What advice do you want to give to those who look up to you?
I think the message that I want to send to those who look up to me is to never give up on their dreams, they are not as far as they think. Starting as a girl who has a dream of becoming an actress, I have seen my dreams become reality. Sometimes you are moving so fast that you have to take a break and wonder if this is what you really want to do and if it is, to keep moving forward!

Do you have a mantra or a piece of advice that’s helped you?
A piece of advice that my mom gave me is more of an outlook on life and that is to “Choose Joy”. There is a book by the wonderful Kay Warren that really goes into depth on how to choose joy, even in the darkest of times.
Is there someone in your life who you aspire to be like?
I have always said that my grandma is one of the strongest people I know. She is loving and patient and makes the best food. I love her so much!
What are you excited about for this year?
This year, I am really excited to see where this journey is taking me. In 2016, my life turned upside down with Fuller House coming out and I cannot wait to see what 2017 holds.
