Singer. Actor. Songwriter. Model. Dreamer. Just a few words that characterize Steffan Argus. 2017 will be quite the year for Steffan Argus with the release of his debut album, the succeeding season of The Commute, the upcoming release of The Gifted, and a sophomore EP in the works. We chatted with Argus for a fun Q&A.
Favorite song at the moment?
“Bright Cloud” by Nana Grizol.
Favorite classic song?
This one that comes to mind is “Come On Eileen,” whenever I hear that I wanna dance, it reminds me of so many happy memories.
Favorite instrument to play?
Ukulele, by far.
Any pre-show rituals?
Well, I drank a lot of tea, which is good and bad because I end up having to go to the bathroom. I just really like tea, like Throat Coat. I also do weird warmups, you know how like in High School Musical, Sharpay and Ryan do those weird warmups, I do stuff like that to loosen up and kinda get out of my head. At the last show, me and my band were all doing Tai Chi together before the show.
Any hidden talents?
I guess this is similar to songwriting so it’s not necessary ‘hidden,’ but I write a lot of poetry, that I never really do anything with; it just kind of sits in my journal. But, I was thinking about potentially making that a part of some of my music. There are a few artists in mind that do spoken word kind of stuff with ambient accompaniments, I was considering doing something like that, but I don’t know, we’ll see where the wind takes us.
Any Netflix recommendations?
Shameless, that show is awesome. But I had to take a break, it was stressing me out, so much drama I couldn’t handle it.
Probably, the Honey Barbeque Chicken Wings at Buffalo Wild Wings, those things are so good. I haven’t had them a while because I’m trying to eat healthy, but I miss it.
One of my favorite places is this campground that my grandparents have a cabin at in Illinois, which is where I’m from. I used to go there all the time when I was younger, we would go there for Halloween and just explore, I would just get lost in the forest. That was one of my favorite places to go.
Place you want to travel to?
New Zealand, that’s been at the top of my list for a long time.
Any life advice or wisdom to share?
Well, I like to live my life is by trying to love and live freely and happily, at every given opportunity. I think that’s the most important thing. I think it’s important to love everyone, whatever the circumstance, and to live a free life. Because at the end of day because there’s not really much you can do for yourself, besides trying to be as happy as possible and trying to treat everyone with love. That’s the world I would want to live in, it just sounds peaceful. If everyone was loving each other and didn’t worry about themselves, then everything would just be perfect. I’m just kind of living with this vision of utopia in my mind and hopefully one day it will come to fruition, but who knows, in the meantime I’ll distract.
